A Boston area replacement window company that services Massachusetts and Rhode Island has discovered a way to make buying windows a stress free task. After reviewing thousands of on-line complaints on how the average window companies beat people up until they buy, FHI Windows has re-designed the process.
The process starts with a complete window inspection. Your windows are inspected on both the inside and the outside of your home. This inspection completely eliminates change orders and any hidden service charges. Some contractors actually charge for hidden damage because they did not spend the time looking for damage when they did their “estimate”. At the end of the window inspection you will know what the window sizes are and if any additional labor or material is needed.
The next step is the product demonstration, this is when you can view the new window styles and see the different types of glass options. Since some people like a quick 15 minutes product demo and other like a full one hour demo, FHI Windows let you decide how long the demo will take. Nobody should be forced to watch a 2 hour product demonstration!
After you pick your window styles, glass options and color options you will receive a price that is good for 60 days. All available discounts are taken before you are given a price. Unlike most other companies that start with a high price and play the phony pricing discount games, FHI Windows gives you your low price up front. Once you receive your price you can sign a contract on the same visit or take a few days to make your decision. All FHI replacement window proposals are good for 60 days!
When you are ready for replacement windows and want a relaxing shopping experience be sure to contact FHI if you live in MA or RI.

Roofing Companies
Getting your roof replaced is a pretty straight forward project. However most home owners lack the physical conditioning or the will to work from such heights. That is why hiring professional roofing companies to do the work for you is so much better of a idea.
A roofing company can come to your home, tear-off your old roof and install a new roof in one day. If you were to attempt this yourself, even with a friend or two helping, you would be lucky to finish in week. You will also have to deal with the disposal of the existing roof material which means you'll need a truck and trailer with access to a land fill.
So when you consider everything you'll have to go through to reroof your own home, hiring a roofing company to do the job for you seems like the best choice.

Deck Cleaning the Proper Way
Most people believe that cleaning wood with a pressure washer is all about the pressure, when in fact nothing could be further from the truth. I have seen so many decks that have battle wounds on them from home owners attempting to do it themselves before giving in.
Even small pressure washers can put out enough pressure to cause scarring, furring, and splintering of the wood. These marks will show through the sealer and take away from the appearance or your investment. Deck cleaning the proper way is to use the right cleaners and less pressure. No more than 1000 psi should be used to clean pressure treated wood and even less on cedar.
When cleaning a large area like the floor of your deck, you should move the wand in a golf swing type motion to keep from getting wand marks, which are caused by abrupt stopping and starting motions. Doing this gulf swing or half moon type motion will feather in the cleaned areas and give the whole floor a nice, clean, uniformed look?

Decorative Floor Registers at Floors To Go
One of the most common mistakes that degrade the intended look of a room is replacing the flooring and reinstalling the old floor registers. You may be surprised to know that 75 percent of the floors that are replaced each year get accessorized with degrading old floor registers, instead of new decorative floor registers to match the scheme of the rooms.
Before I get into the selection process, I want to point out how and why this happens. When most of us need work done to our homes, the first thing we do is pickup the yellow pages or go to some sort of online phone book and look for someone we think can do what we need, schedule an appointment and wait for them to show up.
Even though this works for some people, this is not the best way to get a professional job done and done with all the right products. Simply because most of the businesses listed in the phone books are contractors, not decorators or designers and only care about giving you what you want not what you need.
The best choice is to visit a local flooring centers so you can view a larger selection of products and get ideas from their decorators on how to match accessories, like decorative floor registers, to the actual flooring you are going to have installed.
Even if you decide not to purchase from that store, at least you will have a better understanding of what you need so you can make sure to mention to the contractor that you want to have decorative floor registers installed to match your flooring.
Thankfully, this most commonly overlooked issue of installing new floor registers to complement your new flooring, is something anyone can do themselves. So if hindsight is 20/20, do not worry, you are not stuck with what you got.

Buy The Right Shingles
Buy The Right Shingles
If you are replacing your old, worn out roof covering with new asphalt shingles, make sure they have a Class 4 rating with Underwriters Laboratories UL 2218 standard. A Class 4 rating tells you a sample of the product did not crack when hit twice in the same area by a two-inch steel ball.
